The Sky Is The Limit: Sky Garden
At an ear popping 37 floors off the pavements of Fenchurch Street, Sky Gardens easily wins the award for the best view of London that I have ever seen. Your viewing experience isn’t limited as the panoramic 360-degree view enables you to view the city at every possible angle you can possibly imagine. Whether you’re visiting during the day or the night, the views are absolutely phenomenal.
After passing through ‘airport style’ security and getting stopped as I always do (somehow I manage to trigger the machine everywhere I go), I was then granted access up to the venue itself. As the lift doors opened, I instantly let out a shocked sigh. I always knew it was going to be beautiful, but wow was it beautiful!
Pleasantly surprised by an instant table upgrade with a magnificent view, our lovely waitress for the night Esther M, talked us through the menu and recommended a few cocktails. Settling on the Winterberry Mojito (A classic mojito with mint, sugar, lime and winter berries) and the BaBa Au Rum (Cacacha and rum, homemade honey liquer, bergamot liquer, lemon, caramel, bitters, Angostura and absinthe), I was hooked from the first sip. Delicious and strong… I was truly in my element and after my attempted Dry January, a perfectly mixed drink was well and truly on the agenda and I’m proud to say I wasn’t disappointed.
Confidently being able to leave your table unattended to go and take in the three storey garden surroundings, was a great touch. In other venues I would usually get worried that someone would steal my table. But as long as you let the waitresses know you’re going for a wander they’ll place a ‘be right back’ holder on your table. Exploring each floor, you’ll get lost in all the greenery and begin to forget that you’re in the middle of the city.
With two restaurants and two bars to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice Whether you’re date night dining like myself, treating yourself to afternoon tea with friends or having a client dinner. You will have an unforgettable experience. Walk-in guests can be accommodated but to avoid disappointment it’s advisable to book in advance.
