Winding through the ins and outs of Spitafields Market lies a truly hidden gem adored by the City’s Wine lovers amongst us. Bedales Wine Shop & Bar offers an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, ideal after a long day stressing at work or even date night.
Stepping into the bar, you’ll immediately become distracted by the walls that boast a collection of over 400 wine bottles neatly arranged by grape, style and region. However, making a choice of wine somewhat still remains difficult, simply due to the fact that there is so much choice. To avoid any more pondering, we thought the best idea would be to seek a recommendation from the barman. After settling on a White dry wine, the barman brought over two rather large glasses of Riesling (Weingut Pfluger, Buntsandstein 2016, Pfalz, Germany). Hooked from the first sip, the wine went down an absolute treat and you even have the choice to accompany your beverage with a selection of small plates. Cheese lovers…. think platters!
The candlelit and cosy vibe, won me over immediately. Gone are the days of wanting to be somewhere with a thumping bass, I’d rather stick to classy and calm. The bar itself is rather on the small side, so if you do get a table you will be quite lucky as there isn’t many too choose from.
Want to broaden your wine knowledge? Bedales offer their very own wine workshops, no matter your wine background, all levels of knowledge are welcome. Whether you would like to get involved individually or within a small group, Bedales will find a way to make it happen! With three sites all situated within London’s iconic markets, you now have no excuse to not give this bar a try. Head over to Spitafields, Borough Market or Leadenhall.
