Birthday Bliss - Sopwell House

As my partners birthday quickly approached, I started brainstorming all of the things that we could possibly do to celebrate. Considering we’d just got back from a weekend in Paris, going somewhere local was definitely on the cards. Aimlessly scrolling through all of these luxury spa’s within a short drive from London, I stumbled across Sopwell House and immediately fell in love. The spa facilities sounded amazing, the rooms looked phenomenal and there were three restaurants and a cocktail lounge to wine and dine in #winning!

After a short 45 minutes drive from London, we pulled up to our home for the weekend. Let’s just say I immediately knew that I had made the right decision. Escorted over to ‘Honeysuckle’ our mews suite for the night I instantly fell in love as soon as I stepped in. The décor was beautiful, there was a stunning roaring fireplace and you just felt at home instantly. Oh and there was the BEST selfie mirror in the bathroom!! Honestly! Don’t overlook the power of great lighting! The attention to detail in this suite was ridiculous to the point that the hotel management had left a personalised card and some birthday macarons for the Mr! I was well impressed!

As a guest in a mews suites, you instantly become part of this cute gated community situated away from the manor house itself. The suites boast their very own exclusive garden designed by Hampton Court Palace Flower Show Gold award winner Ann-Marie Powell, private parking and a hydrotherapy pool that you have access to at any time of the day. Yes! That does mean indulging in some Champagne after hours in your swimsuit surrounded by bubbles! What more could one ask for!

The spa itself was divine, for a Saturday it was slightly on the busy side. But considering it was a weekend and there tends to be lots of weddings and events on its understandable. But that didn’t stop us getting a few laps in the pool and alternating between the steam room and sauna.

Feeling as relaxed as ever, it wasn’t long before we had worked up an appetite. I reserved a table at ‘The Restaurant’ in advance which is advisable. Sitting through a mouth-watering 5-course dinner paired with a fine bottle of Chablis I can’t fault any part of the experience at Sopwell House. The staff were attentive and no request was ever overlooked. I am absolutely convinced that this will not be my last time visiting Sopwell House, but rather a start of an annual tradition perhaps.
