Flamenco Festival 2021, Trocadero Sotogrande
After a rather long several months of no travelling, one of my fabulous clients invited me out to visit her in Spain. Agreeing to the trip in literally 0.05 seconds flat, flights were booked, and my countdown app was counting down the days until I was basking in that sensational Spanish heat.
I’ll be honest, I thoroughly enjoy planning trips, we all know this. I think it’s fair to say I’ve truly mastered the craft to the point that I get paid to do it now! (A girl gotta get her coin!). Anyway, this time I took a step back from intense planning and rather gracefully removed my ‘Queen of Travel Itineraries’ crown.
Ahead of the journey, I was given a sneak preview into the plans for the trip, and I was super excited to hear that we were attending the annual Flamenco Festival. Pulling up to the Trocodero Sotogrande Estate, I was amazed at how stunning the resort was. It’s considered to be one of the top beach clubs in Europe and I can see why! It was gorgeous! It’s the perfect spot to grab a sun bed with friends, take a dip in one of their many pools and enjoy a rather fancy dinner in their Mediterranean restaurant.
The Flamenco Festival itself runs right from the start of June until the end of August. We had the delight watching Antonio Fernandez Montoya, a popular flamenco dancer most commonly known as Farru. Taking to the stage in a rather luminous white suit, I was sat sipping my wine not knowing what to expect. As the band began to play, I realised just how much I had missed live performances throughout this covid period. The performance was absolutely exceptional, despite the language barrier Farru was able to take us all on this emotional journey that had my eyes glued his impeccable footwork and rather distracting hip thrusts that kept me smirking throughout.
The night itself was one for the books. Wherever there is live music, hip thrusts and drinks I’ll truly be living my best life!
